We need some quotes from the Holy Torah about goal setting… Where can I find them?
We are putting together a motivational summer program for inner city, low income, high risk, high school students.
However, these students are different. First, they have all volunteered to be apart of the program. Next, each participant has to have a parent (or guardian) who will volunteer at least one hour a week to help this group to get off the path they are currently on.
Finally, we have a corporate sponsor who has donated space and money to change these lives forever. This company does not have their name or brand anywhere attached, it’s pure goodwill to change the community from the inside out.
We want these quotes, from the holy books, to show that we all have to set goals no matter what our religious affiliation.

What a lovely idea
Here are some sites where you can find essays about and references from the Torah and Tanakh:
http://www.aish.com
http://www.chabad.org/
http://www.askmoses.com
Try these, and good luck with it
Keep in mind that anything you may have already found in the “Old Testament” could also be used as a Torah quote, provided the translation is accurate. Go here: http://mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0.htm for a good translation of the Tanakh – while I can’t think of any quotes off the top of my head, I would suggest looking through the books of Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiates.
In addition, I would look into Pirkei Avot (”Ethics of the Fathers” – not the Torah but an important Jewish religious text). You can find it here: http://www.shechem.org/torah/avot.html
When our Creator spoke to the Twelve Tribes of Israel He said there would be no poor among them if they carefully observed the commandments of His Torah:
Deu 15:4 “However, there shall be no poor among you, since the LORD will surely bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess,
Deu 15:5 if only you listen obediently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all this commandment which I am commanding you today.
Deu 15:6 “For the LORD your God shall bless you as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.
Deu 15:7 “If there is a poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother;
Righteousness is observing the Torah and our Creator will not allow the righteous to hunger:
Deu 4:8 “Or what great nation is there that has statutes and judgments as righteous as this whole law [TORAH] which I am setting before you today?
Prov 10:3 The LORD will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will thrust aside the craving of the wicked.
Our Creator’s House is a House of Prayer not only for Israel but for “all people” who love Him and take hold of His covnenant:
Isa 56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
Isa 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
