Product Description
Major medical journals are finally beginning to recognize hypnosis as a legitimate clinical tool, citing proof positive that it can help ease chronic pain, lessen the side effects of chemotherapy, counteract anxiety and sleep disorders, and more. On Heal Yourself with Medical Hypnosis, Dr. Andrew Weil joins Dr. Steven Gurgevich, a leading expert in mind-body medicine, to offer listeners a 2-CD session on how to use this amazing tool for personal healing. On Part One, Dr. Weil discusses the physiological mechanisms behind the mind-body connection, while Dr. Gurgevich demystifies the practice of hypnosis through a concise account of its history and important case studies. On Part Two, Dr. Gurgevich introduces listeners to four trance induction methods, including trance deepening and a full session of self-healing with hypnosis. “No condition is out of bounds when it comes to the effective use of hypnotherapy,” says Dr. Weil. With Heal Yourself with Medical Hypnosis, now listeners can discover this highly effective way to use the power of the mind for optimum health and well-being.

OK, I will revise my rating to 2 stars, because after trying again
I was able to get through the healing induction two days in a row.
It’s not the worst CD I ever heard after all. I still can’t listen
to any of the other inductions or information sessions, and rather
than feeling refreshed, the healing induction leaves me feeling
subdued and groggy.
……….
I have to agree with the other reviewer who gave this one star.
I don’t know if it his inflated vocabulary, tone of voice, or
theatrical delivery, but I found the CD sessions spoken by
Dr. Gurgevich to be so grating and irritating that I just couldn’t
listen to them. I was only able to get through about 15 minutes
of his introductory material. Then I went back and gave his
progressive relaxation session a try. I kept opening one eye to
check how long the session was lasting and couldn’t make it to
the 5th minute of the 16 minute session. Maybe it’s me, but I
also found this to be possibly the worst most unlistenable CD
I have ever encountered.

Generally, I do not find that classical music relaxes me as does Andrew Weil’s “Breathing: The Master to Self-Healing”. I find that excerpts of complete concerti etc. bothers me; I want to hear the whole piece. For others this cd works extremely well.

Now it is not what the emperor wears it is what he listens to.
I mistakenly believed the previous review and bought this CD. With a pedigree such as Dr Weil’s I was completely disappointed to have purchased this CD.
My expectation was for this CD was to have a soothing voice over and a alpha theta and delta wave back ground lulling the listener into a rapid relaxed state with various exercises. Dr Weil’s voice is a rich baritone that raises the bar and the expectation level to at least nearing that level.
Instead Steven Gurgevich’s voice I could bearly listen to once. Thin and grainy it made me cringe, turn on the lights get out of bed and put another CD in. And I paid for this! What were they thinking? That they can throw anything together and fools will buy it? Seems like it.

I take Zoloft for anxiety and depression. None the less, I still was having trouble trying to relax.
I’m seventy years old, but probably because I eat un-American, and I do exercise regularly, I’m still quite healthy. Still, I couldn’t get my monkey brain to shut up and I couldn’t make my stiff muscles in my neck and back relax. This is, at times, quite painful. I exhausted myself every day. And I knew that this stress would someday catch up with me.
Professor Gurgevich’s relaxation exercises, as conveyed on this CD set, has been of enormous help. No wonder that Dr. Weil endorses his presentation.
I also appreciate the concept presented: “YOUR MIND-BODY CONNECTION.” This insight increases motivation and seems to me to be founded on solid ground.
I do not recommend that anyone stop taking antidepressant medication prescribed by their physician, but I do recommend this CD set to anyone needing help relaxing. These exercises work and have no undesirable side effects.

This is an excellent cd. What you get out of it is what you put into it. Understand the context and use the tracks. Relax your body and mind and focus. If you can do that, very good things will happen, if you let it.
